Where have we been?

*Nervous laughter*
Sooo, the one responsible for keeping this thing up has, ahem, not done the best job. For those of you who DO check this and read it for updates on us, my deepest apologies.
Anyways.
What has been happening in the lives of these Ramey people in the past however many months(I'm not even going to check, its ridiculous, I'm sure)?
So. Many. Things.
Really too many to tell about.
The main ones are these:
Birthdays- Mom, Annie, Genna, Miguel, Gaby, Juan, and Chepe(I think) all had birthdays thus far.

Moving-Genna moved to the USofA. When not traveling around the states and doing ministry, she lives with the wonderful Johnston family and keeps busy working. She is sorely missed by Ramey and Co. I think.

Wedding-Yep. Jossie is getting married. To Carlos. We all knew this was coming, so it was not all that surprising. We have people flying in from all over the place to celebrate with them. It will be a good day.

Kiddos in the Casa Hogar are growing and learning and healing. Hearing reports, seeing pictures(and getting to witness all the recent developments soon!) is so encouraging. You should come and visit. Yes, you. If you love the Lord, want to serve Him with your life, come on down. Fro however long. Just come. :)

Late nights with Victor

This was recorded last week at around midnight. We(meaning mom and I) were a bit silly from the late hour, and found this all to be hilarious. Victor had been playing with some cups and decided he was going to walk...with the cups on his feet. Poor little guy, he kept slipping and we just kept on laughing. After a bit, he did get the hang of it, but not before we took this video!

I don't know what is is about little children. They just never seem to stop growing. As soon as I figure out where I put those "way too big for right now" clothes, get them out and washed, all the kids have outgrown them! I'm not complaining. It is wonderful to see them growing, learning and discovering new things. Its just difficult to keep up with them!

So, in light of all the changes(physical and otherwise) in the Ramey house this year, we attempted to take a family portrait for 2010. This is just my opinion, but I think they turned out pretty good. :)

Tea Party

With so many little ones and smelly boys running around, us girls can get overwhelmed at times. Since all lovely young ladies just love tea, it only seemed right that my sisters and I put on the kettle and have a party!

We invited Emily and Lane Cooke, our next door neighbors(and fellow MKs), and got Eli(our 5 year old sis) to join in the fun.

Not all of the party showed our um, soft ladylike natures,

but it was still wonderful!

Afterwards, we took some pictures with just us girly girls outside. Seeing those five young ladies and little girls enjoying themselves was great. I cannot wait to see how our Lord will use these beautiful princesses for His kingdom!

Greetings in the Lord!
I(Genna) won't even bother mentioning how embarrassing it is that I haven't updated this blog since last december. ;)
All is, well, interesting in Rameyland. The Lord is with us, and we are just so excited and humbled to know He is using us!
Lots has been happening this year, but as it would probably take days to update, I will just share the most recent info.
We are a family of 15 now!

That's us. Learning how to be a family and work through everything as godly sons and daughters is sometimes difficult, but so wonderful! As far as I'm concerned, this is a pretty good life. :)

***Miguel was baptized this September. It was a beautiful, very special time and we were overjoyed to be part of it! He had asked Jesus to be Lord of his life a few months before, and we had been seeing many changes in him(real repentence of sin, patience, and joy!). He is becoming such a great young man. We are so proud of him, and the work the Lord is doing in his heart is showing. Mom thinks he will be called to be a pastor. I agree. ***
That, right there, yes, the paragraph above this, that is the reason we moved here, the reason we serve. What a mighty, loving God we have!

Now that we have more access to the internet, I think updating this may actually happen.

May the Lord be moving in your hearts, drawing you closer to Him!

How many presents for me?

Although this isn’t the most “cheerful” topic, it’s something that God has really been laying on my heart all this year. Some may see this as depressing, but really it’s a happy message! With all our flaws, we have a very great God who changes us and works through us for His glory! So as this year ends, I wanted to share it with all of you.
“What is man that You are mindful of him….” Psalm 8:4a
Seriously. Who are we to Him? Not only has He made this entire universe, each and every one of us, but He is also perfect. Really. He is all we can never be. Still, He chooses to allow us a direct path to Him. He made us, our hearts, but we have decided that we know better, we know how our lives should be lived, what and who should occupy our time. Yet still, He can bless us; fill our hearts up with Him instead. He gave us His son. Do we give Him time? He said “Go into ALL the world and preach the GOOD NEWS to ALL creation”; we stay and sit in silence.
People, please know that I fully accept I’m young. I don’t have many years, I haven’t received much wisdom. I don’t have a family to lead, to provide for. I don’t have children to instruct in the Lord, and a house to keep. I’m a kid. I get that. When I look at simple facts though, and yes, those things up there are facts, I stop. Because really, who am I to assume, to hide, to “know better” to decide? I’m human. He is God. For all I know, I could get electrocuted by this computer in the next minute and die. Not likely, but hey, it could happen. All this year, my Father has been teaching and revealing to me in gentle ways, and not so gentle ways, my innermost thoughts. I’m not proud of it. It has not been fun. If I am to be presented to God, holy and spotless, I need to consider it though. How many times a day do I think, this is MINE? I don’t want to help because I am doing MY own things, this is MY time? A depressing amount. I’m not saying my days (there it is again!) are consumed with me, but considering God is eternal and I’m dust, it’s too much. As a young lady, I am in this beautiful position. I’ve been blessed with a family. I can serve my father, my mother, and all the children under them. I get to see, learn and serve, before God has even given me something to do outside the house! I believe the more people around you though, the more you can clearly see yourself. While I may not color on the table, how often do I paint a picture of Christ’s love to the world? I may not be sneaking off with friends, but how often do I honor my mother and father when I’m not with them? So much soul searching has been done. Have I put it into practice? I hope so! I want to share with you two stories, which, although representing two different sides, show a tiny bit of my reflection in God’s eyes.
As some of you may know, I’m a planner. I like to know when things will happen, what will be going on. So when those things change, I don’t always react well. A few weeks ago, I was at internet. While there I received a message telling me, basically, that my carefully laid out plan (which of course, was exactly what I thought God had for me) was not going to happen. Oh no! Let’s just say, I was not thinking about anyone else at that moment. The drive home, mom was busy telling me all the reasons why this was not the end of the world. I was in the back stewing. All the focus was on me. Once we got home, lunch preparation started. Half way through that, Mrs. Cooke came over and told us some saddening news. A young man, a fellow pastor’s son, had just passed away from cancer. 16 years. Gone. At almost the same time I was despairing of my silly situation, a brother and sister in Christ were saying good bye to a son. Ouch. I saw, that really, things are things. Plans change. We should be focusing on the eternal side of things, because that is what we will be left with.
The day that Danny left was normal. We all got up, fed everyone, and helped to tidy the house. Then Danny’s mom showed up. She told us that she was here to take him back. Although we pray that families can receive these incredible children back, in God’s time, to be raised in safe situations; our hearts still long for them when they leave! Hoping someone loves them as much as you do is not easy! As she and Mrs. Cooke were finishing paper work, one of the Cooke kids, Lane, began crying. As our rule here is that you do not cry when parents are dropping off or taking children, this wasn’t good. I was busy cleaning, trying not cry myself. So when I saw Lane, I wasn’t sure I could help. But I scooped her up anyways. As I was whispering the reasons we could be happy for Danny, my focus gently was turned on her. On her and on all the reasons that really, God is good, regardless of the situation, or our emotions. With her tears beginning to slow, we stayed out of the way till Danny was gone. Once Lane was in her house, my mom was the next one to comfort. We all know God is the true healer of our broken hearts, but a shoulder to cry on doesn’t hurt.
Later on, as I was praying over the situation, I saw how by shifting my focus off myself, and on to someone else, He had given me the opportunity to bless someone. How great is our God? I know this is kind of muddled. It’s not the most clear way of saying what I feel, what I’ve learned. I may be a “good” Christian, but I also still have a lot to learn and grow in! I am just hoping, that during this time of celebration for the Reason we live, everyone can ask, “What am I?” instead of “How many presents am I getting?” We have already been given a Gift. He came. People, He came!!! For us!!! To teach us, to love us, to SAVE US from sin, from ourselves!!! I like presents, but I’m pretty sure souls matter more than my iPod (thank you mom and papa!). We have got to understand that until WE get out of the way, the gospel is waiting. It’s waiting. Saving grace is WAITING TO BE SHARED. Excited? :)

Annie’s Funny Stories of the Year
We were all eating and one of our little boys starts coughing for like a whole minute and when finally he stops, he says, “Quiero chocolate!”. That, in English, means “I want chocolate!”. It was so funny!

Ok. So Eli and Cris always want what the other one wants. This one day, we had chilis in a bowl on the table. Cris asked me if he could have one, but I told him no, they were too spicy. But Eli didn’t listen to me and grabbed one anyway! Then she took a big bite out of it. Her face was priceless. Poor girl, she was almost crying!

*Highlights of 2009*
This is just a few of the events, happenings, and just plain fun things that we have had this year.
-Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Dave Ramey all came to visit us! Helped us paint, went to a natural hot spring park with us, and had praise and worship as a family!
-Genna graduates at 16
-Salisbury team of adults visit!
-Ramey family moved upstairs for sleeping and set up housekeeping.
-Made friends with other missionaries from Peru, Canada, and US.
-Trip to the US, including Texas and Ohio, for Kristi and the girls.
-Genna stays in the States alone for two months.
-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!KIDS IN THE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Katie Cooke’s parents visit.
-!!!!!!!Finished construction for the Children’s Home!!!!!!!
-Planted and enjoyed a wonderful veggie garden!
-Zanesville team (including homeschoolers, and girls from Mrs. Palmer’s Spanish class) visits.
-Tom Grabaskas returns for another month long visit. Tom, you are such a delight!
-Swimming with local youth and Tom at local water park.
-Had two young people (from nearby churches) come and serve with us for about a week.
-President of National CM&A Mexico (Pastor Ezequiel) comes to visit.
-William Cooke’s parents visit.
-Inauguration of Children’s Home, over 100 people attended!
-Jossie starts highschool, and a local class for training in hair styling.
-Annie starts Jr. High
-The Stewart family from Illinois comes to serve, stays for a month.
-Ken Tuene from Alaska visits.
-Tod contracts Influenza, is sick for a month, including three days in a local hospital.
-Genna contracts Dengue Fever, weak for over 6 weeks.
-Family day to Guadalajara, ate at McDonalds, saw a movie, shared Starbucks coffee and shopped at WalMart and Costco.
-Tod took the kids hiking in Ahauluco to find “Piedra Bolis”(large round rocks, a natural phenomenon.)
-Operation Christmas Child gives us shoeboxes, which we passed out to a hundred children from the town.

Genna’s Funny Stories of the Year
The kids really enjoy playing games with roles involved. One day we were outside and Julio decides he wants to play “family”. He announces that he is going to be the dad (a very coveted role). Eli says she is the mommy. Cris looks down, thinking hard, then decides he is going to be the teacher! He is told he can’t be a teacher, they aren’t in town yet. With this knowledge, he again declares his chosen position, a little old man (also known as grandpa). :)

Often, in the morning when I wake Cris up, he is surrounded by small pieces of paper. We aren’t sure why, but he seems to be very amused by taking paper to bed with him.

For a special treat, all the children sleep in the playroom with Tio (my papa) every Friday. Every morning when I greet the kids, I tell them I love them, then ask them how they are and if they dreamed something. So, the Saturday following their “campout” in the playroom, I asked Eli what she dreamed. She proudly tells me that she dreamed, “That me, Cris, Julio and Tio all slept in the playroom!”

Tropical fevers are really no fun.

Hello again! We want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all the extra prayers this past month! Your petitions to the Father truly carried us through all this month of sickness.
Several praises!
My mom is amazing. Not only did she take care of four very sick people at the same time, but she managed to keep the kids happy, healthy, and alive, not to mention our house clean! So, yes. My mom is the coolest.

Dad is almost completly better! It is so nice to have him back around us. The kids in the Home really missed their "tio papa". (For those of you who didn't know, dad and the girls had a nasty flu virus. I have been battling dengue fever...hence the title of this blog post. )

The Stewart family was able to come and serve and get home safely! We were so excited to have them down here with all of us for a whole month. Getting to know them and their children was a blast! The kids in the Home loved the twins and their adorable little girl. Julio still prayers for them every day. :)

Speaking of prayer, the kids are becoming quite the little prayer warriors! Hearing them raise praises and requests in such heartfelt ways is so very cool! Who knows what these kids could do for the Kingdom with their simple words and huge hearts???

Jossie and Annie are continuing to do well in school! Jossie has passed every exam with flying colors. Annie is speeding through her work, and is enjoying the extra time mom has found to help her. So am I. Sometimes...you have the knowledge...you just can't explain it to another person. Sigh.

Elizabeths birthday is going to be celebrated tomorrow! Party! Victor Bryan is now walking! Still wobbly, but is quite the speedster for one so small.

A new family has been joining our church family for the past few weeks. So exciting for all of us!

In closing....I leave you with this piece of wisdom...use bug spray. Dengue fever is just not cool. Trust me on this one.
Keep on looking towards the Father!

Plans change all the time...why???

Hello all!
Birthdays, visitors and many smiles have come and gone since we have last updated(although chances are you can usually find someone smiling in the Home). Thank you to all who have been faithful in prayer and giving. It's humbling to be here, serving the Lord in such a beautiful way. All of your thoughts, sacrifices and petitions to the Father keep us going, and His work continues!
As of right now, we have three sick little people. Two have just gotten over their ailments. So any extra requests at the throne for strength and added protection would be fabulous!
Each child is constantly amazing us with their attitudes, thoughts and actions. Some for good...some not so good. Elli is becoming more talkitive, and although not quite coherent, is using more words! Daniel is a little speed walker now, and Victor, always looking on, is almostwalking himself. Actualy, ( I(Gennavieve) was the only one who saw it, so it's under debate right now...it's true though!)) Victor took his first steps a few nights ago. We are so proud of all the children! It's so amazing to see their face light up when they recieve praise for something, whether it's helping pick up, playing with the baby, or doing well on homework, we spoil them with compliments! Or try to...with everyone...sometimes hugs are all you get in before someone else needs something. :)

Jossie is doing extreamly well in her hair class. They ladies in it are noticing her different attitude, and she is having many moments in which she can witness about the ultimate Love.
Also...we have been recieving comments from a few people in the town. It seems that the children, and their changed little hearts and behaviors are being noticed. I'm beyond excited that through them we are getting to the community!!! Praise the Lord for His light shining out to those perishing in our little town.

Annie is going through her school work like no other! Homeschooling has many benefits, one being Annie can work at her own pace. She certainly is speedy. :)

Through a round of annticipated miracles, our visa money has all come in. To all who gave especially for that, thank you for your willingness to give and to obey Him.

Mom and I were able to get a few moments away, people are being so helpful at the home. *pause to clap for my fantastic sisters and father*

OK, we have received two more blessings since last updated! Which would bring the number of people in my family to...10!!!!

Dañel- the first baby we had in the home. His mom was reunited with him over a month ago, but circumstances changed. She decided to being him back for the next few months as she gets some things in order, and is working out others. We pray daily as a family for her, as she really is a loving mom. Meanwhile, we get to enjoy this little guy with all his smiles! *****PRAISE***** He now only wakes up one time a night. :)

Elizabeth- Wow. What a firecracker. Three years old, and adorable. She is the sister of Julio(our seven year old). Oh, if you guys could have seen his face when the police brought her!!! Such joy in his little heart. Although Elli is a lovely little girl, she has big time attitude. Favorite word is "no" and she has a temper. A few days and several time outs later, she is starting to fit in this family. Her smile is contagious, and having another girl is really fun. Dresses!

News from the family of 8

Hello all!
For this update, we thought we would just give a mini update for everyone in the Ramey household. But before I go on to that, please know that we have received two new ones since our last post. Victor Bryan(eight months) and dis brother Christopher(almost four). I'll tell you more about them. Maybe. Ok, yes, please just look under their names. :)

Tod- Enjoying and learning to be the father of 3 boys and 3 girls! He is taking VERY good care of the family garden(the girls are sometimes dangerous when it comes to living plants), as well as leading the family in Bible reading of John.

Kristi-Wow! What a mom! (just so you know...this is Genna, and as one of her kids I am so glad to be able to "rise up and call her blessed!" She is amazing!) Happily adapting everything in our house to work with our growing family. Loving the one, count it, one time a night that the baby wakes up(quiet snuggle time). Who knew she could be so happy during the thousands of bumps, bruises, spills, and other little kids accidents? I did, that's who. Haha, she really is pouring her heart out to these little ones, and they are soaking up the love!

Genna- Learning seems to be the main event of my day. Learning to help with every aspect of a large household, and learning to grow in grace(cause when you have siblings, there are many moments in which to learn patience). Wanting answers from God NOW, but learning His timing is far better than mine. I'm rather enjoying being the kid, but at the same time, my parents are really allowing me to act the adult. LOVING all the extra hugs and snuggles that come with little ones.
PS. Heart is heavily burdened for this newest member in our house(see info for Christopher).

Jossie-Interesting. Keeping very busy with her hair dressing class, a fantastic opportunity for her to witness and really learn all about hair, and other stuff. I'm not really sure what goes on in the class, but she seems to be soaking a LOT in. :) Such a huge helper with the boys, they all love her! *****BIG NEWS- Just had her 15th b-day. WE are all so proud of her and the lovely young lady she is becoming!*****

Annie-Quite the little mommy.
Is doing excellent with her schoolwork, and is my fellow helper for getting green beans ready to cook/freeze. Although she truly loves the boys, she gets a bit frustrated with their er, boyness at time. For example, instead of coming up and giving a hug, they tackle you.

Julio-The phrase "bundle of energy" does not come near this one. He is nuts. And so very loving at times, it makes you wonder how it all could fit in one so small. As the oldest kid in the Home(us girls don't count), he has taken it upon himself to explain everything(including time out) to any new kids. Making leaps and bounds in his attitude. Now enjoys Bible time with us and eagerly waits for his turn to read every night. He is the first to offer to pray during meal times, and is learning his place as "little brother". Hahahahah. HUGE help when he is obedient(for chores).

Christpher- Sometimes I wonder how someone his age could go through some much, and still be that strong. OK, the statistics:
Age- Three and eleven moths
Hair-Really fluffy
Siblings-Victor
He is pretty quiet, but starting to come out of his shell a little more every day. Is rather attached to us girls, and likes to sit and just watch everyone. Like I mentioned, went through some rough stuff. We are praying(and please join us in this) that Gods love will fill him and help in healing his little heart. Is Julio's new playmate, poor kid. Adorable to the max! Still adjusting to this wacky house, missing his mother very much.

Victor Bryan- Eight months.
He arrived about two weeks before Christopher.
He is a very light sleeper, and a giggler. Loves to crawl, and eat EVERYTHING, except bananas.
Gaining weight very well. Although bald, he is loved by all.

In Recent news....

Our daughter Genna has returned to us!
Although she is thrilled to be back with us, the past few weeks have been hard as she adjusts to Mexico again.
In her words, "I enjoyed my time stateside greatly! Being with my American friends and family was just fantastic. Coming back to Mexico...that was a bit rough. God has given me a peace in both places though. So i fully intend to enjoy my time here, soaking up the Son, and learning to serve(although giggling with my sisters all night isn't half bad either!)."

In case you haven't heard, we now have two little boys in the Home with us. Julio is seven and Dañel is ten months. This means that the "five Rameys" no longer exist. It's seven! Learning to fit two more into our life has been strange, difficult and and plain delightful. The girls love their new brothers(most of the time) and Tod is a great example to these little men. Being a mom to a baby is a little crazy(sleep deprivation ring a bell with anyone???) and boys have LOTS of energy. We don't know how long we will have them, but we hope God's love for them is evident each day with us.

What a great young man we've had staying with us for the past few weeks. Tom Grabaskas(sixteen year old from Virginia) is on his second trip here with us. Along with having a servants heart and being super helpful, he fits right in this wacky family. We love ya Tom!

Prayer Requests:
-That Julio(seven year old) will continue growing and learning in this safe, mostly stable environment.
-That Tod and I can be godly, consistent parents to all the "gifts" in our busy home.
-For God to speak to the hearts of these little ones.
-For the girls and I to get some sleep! Each of the girls takes turns helping me with the baby during the night. This counts towards home ec, right? :)
